Yes my C4 is back on the road! You know why she was not running? The coil decided it also wanted to be replaced.... So new coil in and the car runs great!

The lowering kit really made the car look how she should have from the factory. Proper wheel gap really makes this car look so much better. Add that to the new suspension and brake lines and flush she actually handles ! I do have to tune the new shocks as they are a little soft atm but now I feel like I could be confident in pushing the car.

One of the few other things I was going to do were the engine mounts. I got a set fo custom solid ones that other people say don’t add much NVH. And after all the work on the Miata (has the same power frame set up) those motor moounts fixed the jumping shifter and I figure would fix mine too. But if you look (image above) on the dri ver side can you see the mount? Look at image # 2, that bit of foil heat shield is that mount.... yeah wasn’t up for that today.
I figure I have the whole bushing set coming so I will do the mounts then. I also need to do a coolant flush pretty badly, but I think I will pay someone to do that.
Any way going to be testing her out. Review to come.

It is very very difficult to go with too hot of a spark.

Excellent choice in wheels.

When you do that coolant flush, surprisingly little will come out of the radiator. The knock sensors double as the block drains. You might also consider flushing out the heater core well. The first winter on mine I noticed the heater output seemed lacking on sub 30 degree mornings . Before engaging in the deeply unpleasant task of heater core replacement on one of these, I ran the hose with a good sprayer nozzle through it. Even on a car with a well maintained cooling system history , an astonishing amount of crap came out of that core.

Oh yes I am well aware of both of those items. I know my heater core is clogged up because literally NO heat comes out. Like less that luke warm. So I know it needs to be flushed. Also gets hot on hot days so hopefully the new thermostat and a flush helps that.

One of the curious GM tuning choices is that the cooling fans don’t kick on until something like 228 degrees when the A/C compressor isn’t engaged (which the auto climate control runs nearly full time regardless of temp setting when in use ).

Glas that sorted her! Need to go for a rip soon.

Yeah I am glad too! I know I will be back up there for a good rip in October. Hope you fill out your form XD

Huh that is very odd and good to know. Might have to throw a manual switch on.

Yeah, those look stellar

Wow, love how those C5 ZO6 wheels looks on your C4.

Thank you! I think they are much better than the OE wheels

I had originally thought mine was having a cooling problem, as coolant temps would rise uncomfortably high when the car wasn’t moving on the very occasional day I turned the climate control off and drove with the windows down. Then I learned it was intentional, for whatever GM reason. The default behavior is to only run the fans when the A/C compressor is engaged , or coolant temp hits 228ish .
One option is a manual switch. Another option is one of the services that will re-flash the ECU to a more logical cooling fan strategy when the A/C compressor isn’t engaged . There’s also some kits out there that add an additional coolant switch to the via an unused , plugged cooling port on one of the heads. T hat switch is used to kick on the fan on at the present temperature of the switch (180, iirc).

Track only car? Solid motor mounts are not fun to deal with on a street car.

Reminds me that i need to order some coolant hoses before I get home from Florida. Almost forgot my car is sitting at home broken all this time lol

Awesome car!

Glad it was just a coil. If it’s anything like an f-body, super easy to replace!
I imagine it’s in the same location as the ICM, and bolted to a head? If so, a common f-body mod is to space the ICM away from the head with a few washers to help with the heat soak that eventually kills them.

Strange I wonder if someone has done something because when the car has gotten hot and I have turned off the a/c the temps drop pretty well. I had assumed it was due to the condenser not producing heat anymore. Maybe someone reflash ed it? There have been a fair amount of previous ownery to this car.

Yes is was right there. Interesting mod I might have to look into that. I just went and cleaned off the big heat sync that it attaches too.

Nope. I did my research on these and they have been installed 50/50 street cars and track cars (or there abouts on the the reviews) and the street guys seem to love them.
